Original Writing
Poetry and fragments written as direct records of memory, ritual, grief, desire, healing, and transformation.
POETRY · VISUAL CULTURE · SHORT-FORM EDITING
This is a record. Happening in real time. Of the changing times. As above, so below. As within, so without.

THE PREMISE
This Is a Spell began as a place where poetry, cultural memory, private transformation, and the images already moving through the world could meet.
The project treats social media as a living notebook rather than a polished endpoint. Original writing sits beside film scenes, interviews, performance, art, and fragments of public conversation. Together they trace the emotional and cultural weather of a life unfolding in real time.
“Each movement, each word, splits time and alters it at the seams.”
MY ROLE
Poetry and fragments written as direct records of memory, ritual, grief, desire, healing, and transformation.
Cultural references, interviews, films, performances, and visual motifs selected for the emotional argument inside each post.
Source footage reshaped through pacing, cropping, film-strip treatments, text, repetition, and a consistent visual signature.
A complete independent identity developed across typography, symbols, recurring marks, captions, and an evolving Instagram archive.
01 / POETRY AS ARTIFACT
VOICE · SYMBOL · FORM
Each poem is composed as both writing and visual object. White space, type, illustration, and recurring talismans give the language room to function like a ritual: intimate, direct, and meant to be returned to.

Ritual, release, and the threshold between what has ended and what is beginning.

Katabasis as a passage through conditioning, perception, and the ordeal of becoming.

An offering, an altar, and the demand for a heart willing to open completely.

Growth and memory held together without pretending one erases the other.

A meditation on transference, symbols, and the truths that emerge through another person’s mirror.

The tower moment, the life after, and the decision to tell the story only when the time is right.
02 / CULTURAL COLLAGE
FOUND FOOTAGE · EDITING · RECONTEXTUALIZATION
Interview excerpts, spoken-word performance, cinema, and public conversation are edited into short visual essays. Repetition, film borders, handwritten marks, and restrained captions create continuity across otherwise disparate sources.

SELECTED MOVING ESSAYS
Seventeen original edits from the ongoing archive. Play each work to experience the pacing, sound, repetition, and visual argument beyond the still frame.
6 FEATURED MOVING ESSAYS · 11 MORE IN THE ARCHIVE
Source note: underlying film, interview, and performance footage belongs to its respective creators and appears here as reference material within Lisa’s edited social work.
THE VISUAL SYSTEM
Typewriter lettering, hand-drawn script, snakes, stars, hands, blades, hearts, and film borders recur like a private symbolic language. The system is intentionally flexible: it can hold an original poem, a cultural quotation, a moving image, or a personal note without losing the project’s identity.

THE WORK IN PROGRESS
“This part of the story begins where the healing began—after the tower moment.”
This Is a Spell remains deliberately open-ended: a body of work growing alongside the life it records. Its value is not in resolving the contradictions, but in creating a form capable of holding them.
